unused channel

is is okay to leave 2 channels of a 4 channell amp unused? is there any ill effects?

For solid state amps, it's fine. They'll tolerate an open circuit, most of the time.

The question is, why?

it's a jbl px300.4 and i don't have speakers for channel 3 - 4
