underseat box for 2 E8's - 03 F150

Just got them back from Woofercooker on friday and had the holiday weekend away, so they got into the box fri night and not tested untill this morn.

Untill I gather all my bits for the 500 x 1 amp, they are running as an 8Ohm load on the rear channels bridged on my AP1040.

Still, the box soulds quite good for now on low volume untill they are a run in a little nad I get the other amp powering them.

not always needed.
ive never had any port noise or "turblance" and i rarely round the corners or do 45's.
Good to hear.

I did round the corners before I put the front plate on.

I pumped it up to maybe 75% today, no port noise that I can tell.

Now I'm having a concern about the output curve from the box already so I started a seperate discussion about it

For now I've just sealed the end of the box over the port

OK, so after a couple of days playing with settings and going from ported to sealed I've decided to go back to sealed.

Even with only 500rms, I prefer the low extension of the sealed setup and don't need the increased audible peak at tuning that the ported enclusure brought.

If I had the space I'd take the box up to 1.8 cu ft and tune right down to 26Hz and get the best of both worlds, but I don't.

So it's back to the test box for now, sealed at 0.65 cu ft.

This is the predicted output from the original ported, sealed up version of the ported box (A), sealed box at 0.6 cuft (B) and a larger box tuned lower ©

Back in the test box... I know particle board is crap, it was cheap and easy for a test box!

Wired the subs to 4 posts so I can change the wiring scheme from the outside.

As shown wired to 2Ohm load on the amp.

Amp thrown in there, it's poking out so I can get at the dials, I have a board to mount it too and to tie the wiring down once I'm set.

Box in, seat down, it looks ok for a bit while I set up, but not my best work.

New box with correct recomended volume for sealed to come...

I may relocate the amps to under the other rear seat now I have the space freed up.

I've now gone through a decent ammopunt of my music colection witht heh sealed box and it's just not extending low enough.

So I thought I's try the ported box again but this time I added egg crate foam behind the subs and some wadding to try to reduce the wavereflection from the oposite face to the subs and imitate a larger volume.

It seems to work well, the large peak in the 40's has gone and the badd is much more of a rumble feel, less boomy.

Checked my tuning and I definately calculate it to be 30 - 31Hz

Tried 'bass I love you' track and it has no audible peaks through the bass range (36hz, 34hz, 33hz, 31hz, 17hz, and 7hz) that I can tell, other than the 17Hz being sloped off and 7Hz being air movement below audible range of course!.

The foam and wading has made a HUGE differnece!

I'm loving the ported box now, the low end extension (towards 28 - 25 Hz) is much better and the crazy 44-50Hz peak is greatly reduced.

So I carpeted it .

and I added some curves usin model foam to the port end just to see what it would come out like.

Added the SPV70 up front, got rid of the headlight dimming.

only 4ga and only a 100A breaker at the front, but I'm not runing enough power to trip it yet.

100A fuse inside the pasenger wheel well also and gromet/sealant where it goes through the cab.
