Ugh! No sound on DLed movies! Codec issue help

I just spent the past couple days downloading a few movies I've been dying to see. Go to play the first one today, and the movie plays, but no sound comes out of the computer speakers.

It says something like

Codec issue

Sending codec

Codec failed

all these in order acorss the bottom of my windows media player. Tried oepning in morpheus and it didn't work either. Anyone got any ideas?
