Type X Question

They will handle the power in the proper box //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

They will handle your average 1200-1500 watt amp without any problems. You can go up to ~2000 watts depending on the box.

If you're feeding it more than rms, a sealed box is going to be your best bet.

How do the type-x's compare to the type-r's? They're one of the 3 main subs i'm looking at, and the local alpine vendor doesn't have one in-store.

I know they're more geared toward sq, but will they keep up with a type-r spl wise, as well?

the type R is a louder woofer, at any power level.

The type X sounds absolutely awesome.

You wont be getting more power handling out of a sealed box, power handling will increase in a proper ported box.

most people dont know that ported can also make twice as much internal pressure than a sealed box can. ported boxes that are properly built are awesome. they can get tough to beat, and one that is built correctly actually does sound really good.

from what i have heard is that the type x is an awesome sub. i heard a quick demo with a type x 12", and it carried the top end notes all the way to the bottom without breaking up anywhere in between. note shifts are flawless. it sounded amazing, but i wish i could have some hands on experience of my own. unfortunatly though, i dont have a car anymore, only my truck that really cuts down on testing new stuff.

Thanks for the info, spkrman, i'm thinking about getting a type-x just to try it out.

'LOUD' is sooo tempting, but i know in the long run, i'll want something that sounds as good as possible, and it sounds like the x will deliver.

Thanks for clearing up the ported/sealed enclosure mixup, my guess is that kicker suggested less power for a ported box so they wouldn't have to deal with problems from people who didn't know what they're doing and messed up their sub in an improperly built ported box.

it takes less power to get it loud in a ported box...
