im going to use my v800hc for mine for a while, it puts out about 1500 a 2 ohms @ 17 volt. Ill just be carefull with the gains.

I have 2 Type-R 12" subs which come rated at 500wattsRMS power handling. I have a PG Xenon 1200.1 amp powering the pair, @ 1 ohm. @ 1 ohm the Xenon produces close to 1400 watts RMS. Each of my Type R's recieves about 700watts RMS, and they sound very good.

I would only imagine that 1200-1400 watts RMS would be well within the power handling of a type X. As long as the amplifier isn't clipping, the additional wattage will be harmless.

Who's heavily modified electrical system is going to put out 17 volts?

Anyway, I put a JBL BP1200.1 on my friends ported 12 Type X and it slammed. You are fine to put a few hundred watts over its rated rms

I had a pair of skanky Type X ho's strung out on over 1200 WRMS (each) from a crazy dealer known on the street as Mad Mmats d3000.1

Subs did great in sealed 1.35 cu. ft. Gross / side. Power handling will change significantly with enclosure type/size/build. You can damage the Type X (or any woof) on much less power if you're not careful.

If you are talking about the PG Tantrum, then the birthsheet on those amps are around 1500 watts rms.

I gave mine RF 500watts rms. Sounds good to me.
