Type X or PG elites

Im gonna demo the X's Elites and the Xenons, but im really not considering the xenons. I think that the elites are going to be under powered so ill prolly have to step up to a better amp ( thinking the titanium 500.4) BUT with the x's i was prolly gonna have to do that any how. But the xenons seem like a cheesy out if i was gonna go with those id get the X's

I currently have my set of Ti6Comp Elites running on 100W RMS per side. I actually had to gain the amp down from optimal position to better balance my system. 300W each was plain too much (amplitude) for my setup, but they'll take it, if crossed over correctly.

They are loud and crisp, with a splash of smooth in the mid-low. "mellow" would not be a word I'd use to describe the PG Elites.

Midbass is pretty good -- that's going to depend a lot on your door and dampening (if you put it there).

Has anybody paired the TI 5 Component set with the TI 9 Midbass Kit?? I have been planning on changing my mid/high setup, and want to run a 3-way up front. What how would you compare these with the CDT HD series (currently what I'm running)? The other setup I'm looking at are Rainbow Profi Vanidium 3-way setup, but using XXX midbass. I buy just the mids, tweets, and crossovers.

when i went to the car audio place to demo the xenons, the guy there told me that the type X and the xenons were basically the same technology.....is that right?
*heh* Pretty much all car audio speakers are "basically the same technology", aside from ribons, horn loaded compression drivers, etc.

I don't know the answer to their dissimilarity as fact, but I doubt the PG Xenon speakers are also made by Morel (Isreal) like the Titanium Comp Elite's are. PG makes the crossover and tweet housings for those, though, so that part may be pretty close. From the looks of it, at least the woofer component is different, in that the morel mid in the TiComp Elite has the magnet structure basically outside (for very flat/wide fit), and the Xenon looks traditional (magnet slapped up behind). They also handle much different RMS power.

Ti Comp Elite:

* sorry, having a hard time finding a decent pic' of the back of them *

the place i went to is an alpine/pg/elicpse/mtx/boston acoustics dealer. i was listening to the alpine type S, the pg octane R, and the pg xenons. he was telling me that the xenons and the type X(which were in the box on the floor next to his desk) were the same new technology if that helps out anything. he said it was the same kind of technology that ADS used back when he bought his components.

edit...

I just realized that I read your post wrong and thought you were saying that he told you the Xenon and Titanium Comp Elite speakers "were basically the same".

Since you are saying he told you the Type X and Xenon's "use the same technology", I don't know what to say. I have a set of Ti6Comp Elite's and 2 sets of Type X components. I do not have, nor have I extensively looked at the Xenon components.

They look great, though, so if you like the sound and you like the price, hit 'em up.

sounds like a sales pitch... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

i feel sure it was....he talks up phoenix gold like its nobody's business. but this time he was talking about how the type X's were a really good set of comps and that he thought they could possibly be the best out right now and all that junk. and then i wanted to listen to the xenons and asked him how the xenons and type X compared and thats when he told me about them being the same new technology or whatever. he's a major sales man but cant seem to get me to actually buy anything from him....probly makes him mad. but i did buy my box from him cause the local dealer is a jackass and jacks up the price major for everything. well me may not have horrible prices but for a guy with not a lot of money to spend the local shop is high.

It may be a, but i dont have any doubts about them sounding just as good or better than the type x's. Just give them both a listen, and pick what u like.
