Type R vs Type X

OK, currenly i got a ported 12" type r, 600 rms. Now i have gotten bored with it and I want something new. My friend is getting rid of his 12" type x for $150. Now i have read many threads and i hear people say that the type r is louder than the type x, but i gotta belive that a 12" type r ported off 600 rms is NOT going to get louder than a 12" type x ported off 1000-1200 rms. Anyone thoughts?

haha, that's not a fair comparison

i loved my type-x's, they were crazy accurate, and got loud LOW

type-r's are completely different speakers

for $150, i'd jump on it

for cheaper than a 12" type-r i'd be all over it, ya!

i had mine in a ported box, but if i had to do it all over, i'd put it in a sealed.

they have a lot of excursion, so it shouldn't lose much output, and the sq would be even more nuts

even in a ported box, i could honestly forget it was there, it's that clean

i had two hooked up to a hifonics bxi2006d so 2000 rated watts and factor in 15-20% marketing hype and divide my two, they were getting around 850w a piece, and they were pretty **** loud.

ported, 2.0cf each @ 30hz

it was a prefab, tho, so that was gross speaker displacement

so ~1.8 each net @ 32-33hz, still hit 25hz with balls, so in a sealed box it would tear it up

I had 2 12" Type X's in a ported built to Alpine specs. Can't recall them of the top of my head. But they sounded great in the SQ dept. I just could'nt get them to get loud enough for me. I first had a MTX 1501d modded on them . Then a Planet Audio VX2200D. Still could'nt get them to wang to my likeings. So I sold them and threw my L7's back in and bought the Orion 1200d.

Long story short. SQ=8.5/10 SPL= 6/10 SQL= 7/10

i had 2 10s sealed and ported at 30hz sounded amazing either way and got decently loud.... really great lowsss.. i powered with an orion 2500 and a hifonics 2006 both were nasty.
