Type-R vs. Type-S

ok, right now i have the type-s comps and when i turn up the volume the tweeters start to distort

i was thinking of geting the type-r comp's or replacing my kenwood 50rms x 4@4ohms amp with the pg 5:0:4.

would the type-r sound alot louder and cleaner then the type-s.

if youre talking about the tweeter alone, i wasnt too fond of the type r tweeter. it got harsh and a little distorted at high volumes. however, i dont know how it compares to the type s.

The Type R's I bought to fill in while my Rainbows were being shipped did have a harsh tweeter..

On some songs in mp3 format the tweets got really harsh.. However it seems to be mostly with burned CDs and mp3 discs.. Perhaps I should record higher than 128...

Never heard the S's...

and yeah that true, on some songs in mp3 format, they get really harsh

Anyways i was thinking of replacing them with the type-r's but now i'm not. i think i'm just going to get some Alpine SPS-1005 Titanium Balanced Dome Tweeters and still keep type-s comps, just lower the gain on them

I have the 05 type R 6.5" components running off a/an alpine v12 4 channel bridged to 100x2 since I dont like rear speakers and pioneer deh-p8600 headunit and I can turn it all the way up and i dont get distortion till it maxes out. You might want to adjust your gain/settings/ crossover slpos etc. Also you can open up the passiver type R crossover and adjust the tweeter signal.
