type r vs cvx

^^^^

so the kicker gets louder then the Fi-Q???

interesting

The kicker is more of like the Type-r a one hit wonder sub.

yes tell can make your car walls flex, but that doesnt mean they sound good doing it, plus they can go low enough as the Fi,Re,ID's,etc......

Hey Wildleadfoot,

Since you are looking for SQL, try one -12.

SPL is more of 1200 & above, but if you want something that hits really hard & sounds good with a controlled cone

learn how to build your own box, & port it, you will be real happy in the end

by you buying only one 12 you will have extra money to spend on a better amp, plus you need to deaden your trunk as well.

materials like MDF isnt cheap,glue,etc....

this audioque amp shoud work really well with the FI- subs.

I think this guy wants a quality sounding sub, not a fart of a sub.I hope he doesnt waste his money on kicker!
I dont think the kicker is a waste...Are there better options yes, but to call the kicker a waste is ridiculous..CVX's are very musical and can sound decent...

I have owned and metered both.

The R metered louder by .2-3 then the cvx, using the same aeroport box at the same frequency.

But, the R doesn't handle the power nearly as well as the cvx did. The amp used was a Orion 2500d.

On music both sounded acceptable, not super, not sloppy.

If its a low power set up, i would run the R.

i ran cvx's and to me they sounded clean and they got loud not sure bout the type r's but one of my buddy's had a set up and he only hit a 139.9 while i pulled a 143.3 but then again that prlly just had to deal with the enclosers

Kicker definitely isn't a waste of money. They're mainstream and that's the real reason no one on here likes them. They may not be the cleanest sub out there, but most people who buy subs buy them to get loud. Kickers do a great job getting loud. The CVX will get almost as loud as an L7, however it will play a lot cleaner because it's round, not square. Put a single CVX 12 in a 2 cube box tuned to about 28-30 Hz, throw 600-700 rms at it and you'll be happy with volume, lows, and clarity.
