Many things... Install is the key. The Type R's are not some magic subwoofer, I finally got the chance to hear a pair was not impressed at all. The hype is because of the numbers being put up from these subs in their TCAB boxes...

You can get loud and sound loud with out getting a tcab box. Everything is install dependent.

i have 800 watts going to 2 type rs in seperate 1.5 cubes sealed...sounded good then i added another 12 and well boy they sucked before

type r **** i had one with a big amp and it wasnt loud and sounded real bad
