Type R setup help

I'm looking to add 1 alpine type are 12" sub. I am not sure if I need the 2ohm version or the 4 ohm. I want to run it off an alpine amp that is reasonably priced, under 200 used. How would the alpine m850 do? If I get the 850 should I use the 4ohm or 2ohm type R? Thanks!

 
get the 4 ohm. And the 850 will work fine. Just wire it into 4 ohms so you can get 500 rms and will be perfect.
how does a D4 wire to 4 ohm? although if you get that amp its 2 ohm stable so you could get a D4 and wire it to 2 ohm and have 800 watts available.

 
your right..... i i got ahead of myself. Yeah, it must be reduced to 2 ohms but i think you can just set your gains to 3/4 and you will be getting about 600 watts out of your amp. It will make the arrrhhhh really happy.

what reduced to 2 ohms?

how does 3/4 gain make 600w?

Get a dual 4 and that amp, put it in a ported box and you will be happy

 
Will a Alpine MRP-M500 power the dual 4 fine? Its cheaper and I read it powers 1 12" type R fine. Let me know if it will be underpowered with this. Thanks.

most people seem to run more power to type Rs than they are rated. i would probably get the 800 just so that you have a little over head if you ever did want to run more power.

It won't be underpowered if it gets loud enough for you.

I installed a TYpe R 10" in a convertible last week with around 300 watts in a .6 cu ft sealed enclosure and it got loud enough for the customer and me.

Surprised the hell out of me.
