Type-R question

I tried to find someone that may have asked the same question but couldn't so here goes. Has anyone ran a Type R is a small ported box? Alpines recomendation it 1 cu. ft. for the 10 and 1.3 cubs for the 12", but every setup I see are bigger ported boxes. I was wanting to do a small ported box in the side of the trunk in the wifes car and was looking at my options of subs. Also if everyone could throw a few other options for me to look at. I've ran both 10" and 15" R's and have installed 12's too. For daily, the 10's should be in the area of 1.25-1.75 cubes, the 12's 2-2.5 and the 15's 3.75-4.25 cubes. Alpines recommendations are waayyyy off.

Thanks for the responce, any other suggestions on a sub that would run in a small sealed box?

My recommendations above are for ported boxes. I would advise against sealing a R because it will do its job much better when ported. If you're looking for SQ and want to go the sealed route, I would recommend drivers such as a Type X, Fi Q, SI Mag, JL W6, RE SE. Personally, I'm a SPL guy, so if some SQ guys would like to chime in they can give you better recommendations.

Well R's are ridiculously loud subs for the money. You can look at my MECA scores and some of the other posts on this site to realize what they are capable of for the price. The only drawbacks that they really have are that they can get warm quickly (when pushed hard) and they cannot be re-coned. But hell, for the price you can basically buy a new sub for the price of a re-cone. Check your pm box.

I have mine in 1.5 per 12 right now, and had them in 1.75 each

Both were fine too me, 32-35hz on tuning

I have mine in about 1.75 each and they sound good. I want to try bigger though.

I don't want to take attention away from the OP, but does anyone know what the size of the magnets are on the R's?

i ran my 12"s in like 3-3.25 each tuned to 32hz off a bxi2006d and they loved it, hammered the lows and sounded decent for type r's.
