Mine had 1100 watts for a constant 45 mins on full blast when i was drunk and it finally went out. And thats after alot of daily pounding. Had it almost a year.

yes you can build a box to big...as for power, stay under 1000 watts.

yes you can.....if you make it too big, the sub will essentially be free-airing and then magic smoke usually follows

1 12" SPL go for 2.3 or so cubes and tune to 43 Hz...Straight SPL no SQL or SQ for joo.

I put my newest sub, a Mag D2, in ~3.1 cubes sealed in a downfiring wedge style, I had to put a subsonic filter on it because all the friggin thing did was rumble. =\

Mine has been running fine off of 800 watts in 2.6 cubes at 32hz for over a year now, I pound the hell out of it daily. Used to have 2, the other is still bangin in my friends jeep off 750 watts sealed.

If you really want to know the limits of the type r see if you can get ahold of tommyk or sblazer. They were sending the r's gobs of power.

It has been known that the R is not really a great fart woofer at higher frequencies, tune low to mid 30's and burp mid forties for some good scores with the type r. phatty low end. Good size box for a 12 would be 2.5-3 cubes.

i had my Rs in one box at 39 hz and i thought that sounded liek garbage.. super peaky, lows sucked, and Rs dont do well with the higher notes IMO so its pointless..

i wouldnt tune higher than 35 or so to be honest with you. anywhere from 2.0-2.5 cubes should be *******.

and the R would take that hifonics all day long.

umm.. its kinda an SQL sub

it doesnt sound amazing.. but it sounds good..

and doesnt blow doors off, but still gets pretty dam.n loud..

i say kinda cause its not on par with something like a mag, xxx, etc.
