Type R in Indoensia

Hi, I'm from indonesia,

i wanna ask few things about alpine SWR 1222D,

as i see in many threads, i see that many people in USA, use ported box, that makes me confused, because in indonesia, we usually use sealed box, because it can make deep n tight sound.

what i'm asking is, if i use sealed box, how big (cu.ft) should i build? Is 1cu.ft enough?

another question, i'm using performa power amp, maybe most of you don't know this brand, cause it's only sell in Indonesia, made in Korea. this amp can pump 1000watt @ 1ohm, is it okay to use 1000watt for 1222D?

i'm one of the type R fans in indonesia, while in indonesia, alpine subs is not popular.

do you know what it runs RMS?

ported if you want it loud, sealed if you want it to sound good. so it all depends on what you want i guess

what are the popular brands there?

Might want to go larger than a 1 cu.ft. box sealed. But remind you, a properly tuned ported box can easily have much better low end extension and higher average output than its sealed counterpart.

1000 watts might kill that Type R sealed. Ported, a lot of people have been sending obscene amounts of power to their Type R's and getting away with it.

Ported > Sealed IMO.. but thats just me.

2-2.5cu.ft should be plenty.

Watch your gains on that amp.

lol guys r mean, umm for sealed enclosures u could probably go alpines specs and i heard u could use 1000watts daily for the type-r but just be careful and listen to it. also i would talk to the some more type-r experts to make sure but thats what i would say, since those **** above dont want to help.

I run 700-750 RMS to my single 12" Type R daily. No problems what so ever.

Also it's ported 2.0cu.ft @ 36hz

alpine recommends 1.75 ported for the 12...but it seems a little small to me, i would go ported much more output, you can start a new trend over there lol

kalo gue bilang jangan pake seal. port lebih enak didengerrinnya. 1000watts okelah buat type r. 2 kubic kalo pake seal bole juga lah.

i forget to tell you that i'm using this sub for SQ.

many of you recomended ported box, but indonesian's installers, suggest to use sealed 1cu.ft for SQ, to make tight bass.

Is 1,25cu.ft will do just fine?

the amp that i use is 1000Watt RMS@ 1ohm. but alpine 1222 max handling is 1500watt, can 1000watt amp blow the sub using sealed box?

luckly, sealed enclosures are pretty forgiving when it comes to size. With a bigger box though, you will gain efficiency and some low end extension. However, with the amount of power you have, efficiency isnt really a big factor.

And you can have "tight" bass in a ported application as well.
