Type R box question.

I have a 2004 type R 10. In the manual and online, they only thing I can find is sealed box info. Should I not put this in a ported box?

If I can, what size and tunings?

my 12'' type r is in a 2.7^3 box @ 32 hz...bigger box than others but it sounds great. i wish i would have got it tuned to 30 hz though, the lows are lacking a bit. for the 10'' type r id do 2^3 but thats just off the top of my head @ 30-32 hz

Which year is your type R? with the 05 and up, they moved to the double roll surround, and bumped the power handling up to 500 watts. They also started giving recomendations for ported. For the current version, they are recomending a 1.3 cubic ft tuned to 30 hz, with sub and port taking Net displacement down to 1 ft cubed.

Current sealed is recomending .65 ft cubed, with ranges from .5 - .8, identical to the recomendation for sealed for my sub...

I was toying with the idea of using Moe Lesters 1.2 cubed box.

im aware of the threads on the Type R. If you will check how long ive been on the boards, you can probably figgure that ive seen most of em. And to help you out, yes I have searched, yes I have ready the many threads, yes I have seen the many answers about 10" type Rs in ported boxes, how loud the type Rs can get, how much power they can handle, for both daily and burps. even that one of the old school Type S' hit 147.x. Thanks for pointing em out. If you would be so kind as to find one that answers my question, that would be great. What you will find, even in the "Official" thread, is that most discussion is either stupid crap, or about the '05 and up models, where they give specs for a ported box.

That said, if you are just posting to prove your infinate knowledge, my stupidity, or just to get your post count up, feel free to continue to do so. As long as its keeping my post bumped for some other people to see and potentially answer, I appreciate the bumps.

While I think you should change the box, I can't be sure of the size and tunings right now.

mines at 34 and i am loving it. i would just do 2.75 or less for sq. mine is 3 and it is peaky
