Type R and RE *** 12"s

So currently I have a DVC4ohm Alpine Type R 12" and I'm wondering in comparison of the two An RE *** 12" with say power handling, sound quality, would it work out in a 2.5cft box vs the 2.0 on their site tuned to 32hz.

Currently I'm pushing 1000watts to the type R and I'm wondering how well the Re takes power.

Thanks //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Type R only gets loud in TCAB boxes. Didn't you know that? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

Mine gets plenty loud in my 2.5cft box, my lingo isn't to par so I don't know what TCAB is haha

@Nate, look for the prior model not the new one?

I know Iam messing around. TCAB is some guys boxes for type r. He used to make them here and ended up scamming everybody lol. But what I meant is you should aero port that type r before you buy a new sub.

Yeah I'd rather go more towards SQL rather than the sloppy grossness a friend tried showing me with his 2 12 CVR's ewww.

Don't suppose anyones in the market for a type r and a little cash added for an SX //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

The RE Se/X is a cosmetic refresh of the RE SE. You can expect it to be very close to the SE in terms of SQ and SPL. The current Alpine Type-R is a deeper redesign of the old one. See here. For example, Alpine employs a shorting ring which should improve sub's inductance performance, and BL linearity is supposedly pretty good (there is a graph posted on Alpine web site). So I might be a minority here, but if I was buying a sub without hearing it first, I'd get a Type-R because it seems more hi-tech, if the price is the same or the Type-R is cheaper. However, in the end there will not be a night and day difference IMO. Of course, if you setup either one of these subs to sound like a fartbox, it will. In properly sized sealed box, either of these should have decent SQ and SPL for a sedan with little tuning.
