how exactly are you getting accurate readings running the tl off the vehicles electrical? we get much higher #'s when doing that???

Power is power? I dont see how powering it off the cars electricity (via a power convertor) is any different than plugging it into a wall at home.

FYI, the amp isn't on the same electrical system as the rest of the car/termlab. And, if i remember correctly, the only thing plugged in is the termlab and the laptop runs off the battery.

it will not read accurately plugged into an inverter being powered by the same car being metered...you are correct, the box is the only thing powered if the laptop is being powered by its own power source.

Much higher when you go off the vehicles electrical? That is something I have never seen... even when I had a bas @$$ voltage drop. Inverter running in my car, or someone else's car... just didnt matter. Car on, car off... no difference. I've metered an immense number of cars, and its been consistent. Its been on probably 20 different power sources... whether it be house/inverter... etc... and its always been consistent.

The only issue I've ever had was @ MECA finals when we were trying to test driveby. For whatever reason, the TL was reading over a 126 at rest. Above that it was still right on, however.

The blazer with the 12's got a .7db gain in the kick in my garage... but that was because it was in the garage. Same number sealed on the dash.

Saying I'm going to get a TCAB box is grammatically correct. TCAB is used an adjective in that situation, its what KIND of box your getting. Would you be within your rights to say I want a TCAB? Sure... but you are definitely within your rights to say I want a TCAB box, because its your describing whta kind of box.
