Type r 12's to AQ HDC3 12's

Hi I was just wondering about these AQ HDC3 12's. I kind of want to upgrade to some new woofers & the AQ's really just have caught my eyes. I have 4 12" Alpine type r's rite now & was thinking about switching to 4 of the AQ HDC3 12's. I have tried the w7's & they were not louder than my type r's, I only did that because I came across one hell of a deal.

Questions I have, would the HDC3's get louder than the type r's? Would they be more efficient? Also how is the customer service with the AQ company?

They have the potential to be much louder but the Rs will probably be louder on less power if that makes sense. With 1 Sundown SAZ3000 I would stick with the Rs. If you plan on getting a second 3000d I'd go to the HDCs with copper coils.

shoulda built a diff box for the dub7s. it def could have been a lot louder than arghs. agree with above though, get another 3000d and then do the HDC3s for the ultra loudz

i dont have experience with the type R's, but i absolutely love my AQ, it pounds like a mother ****er.

They'll want a lot more power than you have to throw at them. with that much, you should use sdc2.5s or something

The hdc3's will be about .3-.5 louder if you have the power for them.

you could do 2 12" hdc3's at .5ohm on that sundown and you'd be good to go

ok thanks a ton for all the in put. I am prolly gonna save up the & buy a 2nd sundown amp. I just really think those AQ's will slam. Any advice for an SPL box design for 4 of them?

they really like boxes tuned to 36-40 hz. they WILL still crush the lows so dont worry about the somewhat high tuning

Double your power, 1.75-2 cubes per sub, lots of port area.

If they're put in optimal enclosures, then my #'s should be close I've played with both subs, I know.

Well the type r's box looked to have very little port at all check his build log.. so if the aq's were put in their optimal box i believe it would be a little louder than you quoted lakota..
