I just got two brand new Type R 12's. I have a Kicker zx400.1 Amp pushing 400 watts RMS x 1 at 2 ohms (Its a piece of crap i know ihad 2 12 inch MTX jackhammers before so the amp was fine). Im saving my money for a new box for the 12's and an amp. Right now i have 1 12 on my backseat (i drive a 2001 Silverado Extended cab) in some Hoopty box my friend gave me i dont know the demensions its small though. Well i put in and hooked it up to the kicker and it sounds decent i guess but i got a wierd smell. I heard it could be the excess glue cause its new but idk. Type R's have 500 Watt RMS i believe and i doubt my amp is burning the voice coils. Any help about the smell would be appreciated. Also if anyone has any Recommendations on what kind of amp and box i should get for the Type R's that would be appreciated also.
