Two BTLs destroyed

when I ship I use high density foam, air packs, and more high density foam with egg crate to coushin the surround. All in an oversided crate and packed in a box made out of thick, thick carboard. Taped well on all corners.

Thoes motors look ok. Looks like they just got broken off of the basket. However if Kenny files a claim I think whomever pays him (the shipping company or the packing place) will keep the motors. Probably throw them away. What a waste. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

Personally I just build a larger crate and than the sub and then put foam etc on the top and bottom and then screw it down and sandwich it together. This way there is some impact resistance...

But 6 foot drop? yikes.

I dont know about 6ft (unless it falls off of one of the shelves in the truck or off of the sorter) but waist high at least. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

did you not read anything on what i siad

shipping a sub in a crate is the dumbest thing you can do. Period. Sure you can reinforce the bottom and top with a small peicce of wood, but its ignornat and a waste of time shpping it like that... i can make a foam shell for a speaker in about 30 minutes and it will withstand anything

Most of these local shipping places wouldn't know their *** from their elbow...you expect them to actually take the time and properly package something as specialized as a heavy speaker? I'm sure they get those all the time, and know exactly what to do with them //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

At least they were something replaceable...

whoa...a little hostility bleeding over from the dd forum //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

The motors are both fine. The gap on one is jammed full of packing peanuts... but they should come out no problem. I'll wait for the insurance claim to be settled before doing anything with the motors. Once it is settled I'll either sell the motors or buy re-cones / baskets and then re-sell them as complete speakers.

Kenny is taking care of things so hopefully this gets resolved soon //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

BTLs are easy to recone //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif I can get recones cheap from Scott, so just let me know what you want to do when all of this is over Jake.

Sorry for the problems... I spent $120 or so on shipping those beasts... and it hurts to see them in that condition.
