Two BTLs destroyed

ok ive shipped enough large items to know how to PROPERLY ship things

ive put off putting a tutorial up long enuf... next large sub i ship gets one

first of all you should doulbe box EVERYTHIGN

2nd of all you should do your packaging

3rd ofall you supposed to buidl it to withstand a 6 foot drop

4th of all crates are compeltely useless for anything other than making the box hold its shape

you shoud go to lowes and buy a 4x8 sheet of 1" insulation foam for 8 bucks

then u should cut squares out ( for a 10 i used a 12x12x12 box ) to fit the bottom of the boxyou should have 2 sheets there. Then cut holes in at least 3 to wrap around the motor and to hold it in the middle of the box. then you should put about 2 inches of foam all teh way around the top of the speaker. Then you should have 2 more 12x12 pieces on top of the sub. Then you should put that box inside of another box filled with at least 3 inches of packing peanuts on the outside. you want to absorb impact //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Good post...double box, foam, and peanuts is where its at. A crate isn't going to do anything to absorb a drop, which is what snaps baskets like that. You need some padding in there while still keeping everything tightly packed.

But isn't that why he "paid" for someone to pack it?

People who take money for a service should be at some competent level of knowledge, right?...i.e. mechanic repairs cars, plumber for the pipes, shipper for the packaging?

If you pay for something and it's not done right, you usually have some "legal" recourse...

Did this place have a guarantee or insurance so that you can file a claim for?

Thats the way i got my TCs.

Actually Kenny is covered.

He paid extra for the shipping place to pack it up. That in turn guarrentees a warrenty by the shipper for the packaging and safety of the item inside.

Thats what the extra is for.

The only better way he could have went would be for something written down where he expressed how it shoukld be packed and how fragile they are.

Kenny;

If you paid a shipping company/ someone to pack up the items and ship them out, then they should be responsible for it. That's why they charge you the extra $$ to do it.

He basically packed the wire you sent me the same way. It was no big deal because it was wire but if it would have been anything else, it would have been destroyed. My box was crushed/ torn to hell by the time it arrived to me.

Good thing you sold your amps local or that might have happened to them as well.

As lilmaniac stated, I pack everything that is of value (subs and amps) that I have sold in two boxes w/ lots of bubble wrap, extra pcs of cardboard and tape. Wire, RCA's and other misc. small items are another story. You can just wrap them in some bubble wrap and send them in a single box. Sometimes I will spend an extra $5-$8 just in packaging material/ boxes to ship something out.
