Two American Bass HD12s or three?

I have two AB HD12s right now, 2 cubes each at 32hz, 15" of port per cube. I have two Clarion 1.5KW amps at .5 ohms each. Will be willing to add a 3rd to power the 3rd sub if I have to.

I also have a HD10 I can get reconed to a third matching 12 to run three.

But space is limited. I can either rebuild for the two to 2.5 cubes each with lots of port (18" per cube or more) or I could add a 3rd and have each seeing about 1.8 cubes after displacement, which is barely smaller then my current box which sounds great.

So big box for two, or smaller box for three? I could run more power longer with three motors which I really like, and people do say - cone is king...

Opinions?

The smaller boxes may be a bit more peaky at times. And maybe less efficient than the bigger box. The bigger box would also produce a better bass response resulting in deeper bass and better sound

Anyone have experience running in a smaller box like that with a AB HD12? (or HDC3 or DD 3512 I suppose, as theyre quite similar)
