Tweeters

One of my Hertz HT 25's blew and I'm just going to upgrade the tweeters to a new set. Need something that can take a whole lot of power and get loud. Preferably soft dome. Hertz HT 28's would be nice. Anything that can easily handle 100 watts. Must be under 80mm overall diameter. And preferably 4 or 6 ohm

You can do some pvc endcaps with with hollow bolts to attach to your a pillars. It'll be on axis which can sound pretty nice too.
But say I get some SEAS Prestige 27TFFNC/G's, which seem to be the best car-audio-sized tweeters on madisound for the price,

would I need to put them in an enclosure? I wouldn't think they'd need it but all the pro and madisound tweeters have mounting info as if they're meant for an enclosure. My guess it's just to make it look good in a loudspeaker cabinet with a woofer but I'm not sure.

You must deal with the back wave from all drivers, although since most tweeters are sealed back you can potentially ignore them.

With my hertz tweeters I just surface mounted them, and I would assume they have a sealed back, but the tweeters on madisound I'm not sure about. I would think they'd be sealed in the back because the woofer in the same cabinet (in home theater/audio) would potentially interfere, but they all seem to need an enclosure, and I don't want to buy them if I can't simply surface mount them. I'm looking at these in particular:

most of them are sealed. Including the choices you were looking at.

I got 2 of the SB Acoustics SB26STCN-C000-4 tweeters and they just happened to fit into the spot where the grille in the A pillar used to be when I took the grill out after getting frustrated trying to mount them in the factory location behind the grill. Was entirely not planning to mount them in this way but it was a very lucky coincidence they happened to fit in that rectangular opening just barely, so they are like stuck in there from the pressure of the plastic touching the body of the tweeter. If they were a mm smaller they wouldn't have worked in that way. I had to cut like a half mm of plastic to shove the right tweet in there but the left one was perfect. They look great like this. I can even swivel them around for aiming, because the body of the tweeter is only touching the plastic at 2 points. Good thing I chose these particular tweets lol. And now I don't have to eliminate the idea of other large format tweeters, they just need to have about the same inner/body diameter of these.

Where in OC are you? I'd like to check those out.
Im in Santa Ana

I do need a box made for my Hertz HX250d (I believe I texted you about it but no reply) and Im willing to trade if that's something you'd be interested in.

Give me a call or text me as I'm not on this forum too often.
