tv car mod. shows questions

There seems to be several car mod shows, they do awesome looking makeover, even their audio installs looks to be topnotch, with lots of glass fabrication, but when it comes down to the amps, some of them are using xpold amps, which is from sony, the thing is they do all this great work on the car, from motors, paint, suspension, etc.. but xpold amps? last time i went to walmart, they sell these xpold amps, are they that good? cause i only use and old school amps, and never have i bought a amp with 3000 to 4000 watts for 249.00 dollars. am i missing something?
