Ts-w3002d4 box

should work fine, but it'll focus more on lows, those pioneers have a hard time hitting anything over 50hz unless you tune a bit higher. Make sure your speakers have enough midbass to fill in that gap or music will sound pretty hollow.

Yeah thanks. I just upgraded to some component speakers in the front.

How much port area does the box have? It might be fine for another sub but Pioneer subs typically don't have a lot of xmax and are high compliance so I'd be worried about them unloading in a box that size... unless it's a prefab with really low port area.

It says it's 4.0 ft^3 box volume and it has a slot port tuned to 32 hz. Would type r's work better in that kind of box? I got it off custom sounds it's prefab tuned box. I didn't make it at all it was already made so I'm assuming it's a tuned prefab box. It says on pioneers website that they do better in .5 sealed and 1.0 ft ported. Honestly they are in a metra ported box from best buy and it's 2.0 cubic feet. They work fine. They are being powered by the hifonics brx2400.1d

i dont think thats an actual 4 cubic feet net box even if they claim it is. probably 3.2 - 3.6 at best. The factory recommended box specs are bullsh!T dont follow it, it sounds like crap when its in a box that small. the box would be fine for pioneers or alpine type Rs. Its a matter of preference for you. If you like pure lows, stick with the pioneers, if you like something a little more musical, go with the alpines.

I would think the box is too big for those subs but the port doesn't look too big so maybe it'll be okay. Type Rs would probably be safer in that box, although they won't sound much different.

Factory box specs are optimized for a mixture of sound quality (or pressure) and the safest volume for the sub and Pioneer recommends a smaller box because their subs won't do well in a larger one. They might sound good but only until you bend a coil former from the sub unloading in too much volume and smashing into the back of the motor.

I would say stick with the box you have for the Pioneers and if you want to go with a larger box, consider a more robust sub.

That's actually a pretty nice enclosure for a pre-fab... I've ran those exact Pioneer subs and I had the best luck with about 1.6 cu ft. net per sub tuned to 40hz... The type r's would more than likely sound better in that enclosure imo

^^This^^ I had these pioneers in a box with these specs and they sounded great. I believe these are the recommended specs for this sub too.
So should I put them in this box tuned to 32 hz or keep them in this metra box I already have? I really like lows and that's why I have the pioneers. Would it be safe to put them in this 32 hz tuned box?
