Single sub for 2010 Mustang GT

Ok guys I am looking to add a single sub to my 2010 Mustang GT. I only want a single so I can get a custom box and pt it on the side and still have a trunk. I have been out of the car audio for a while and looking to you guys to recommend a good sub/amp combo that will still hit hard for a single sub. I was hoping to stay in the 12/13" range. With decent SQL.

Some subs I was looking at from reading posts here were:

SoundQubed HDC412-D1

American Bass HD 12 D1/D2

Subdown Z v.3 12 D1/D2

Appreciate suggestions comments...

Also if you think you guys think I need to run anything like a seperate battery or anything else considering this is unmodified mustang. But since it is only 1 sub do I even need to worry about that.

Thanks so much!!

You're looking for some output, huh? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

I know Zs can often run in small(er) enclosures, whereas a lot of AB's subs require quite a bit more airspace. I don't know too much about the HDC4, but I know they can definitely hold their own in the right box.

Really depends on your box. A stealth box for the mustang is for a single 10 only and sealed. The dc lvl 4 will prolly be your best option here. If you want a 12. All the other subs need pretty good size boxes 1.75- 2.25 each ported the dc needs 1.25 ported for a 12

Yeah, normally I would just put 2 or 3 subs. With this car I am trying to keep it clean looking and still have a trunk =p .....but at the same time I really like bass. heh.

So you are saying those subs will not run in a sealed box only ported??

I guess I should have said it will have to be sealed enclosure, that I will get custom built.

Also when I say stealth I don't mean the JL audio stealth box. I just meant something that isn't right in the center of the trunk taking up all the space. Stealth as in its kind of pushed to the side made to fit the side of the trunk.

Depends on the budget. Some of the best sq subs with decent output would be JL W6, W7, ID IDQv3/v4, IDMAXv3/v4. Alpine Type-R thins are good SQ subs, specially if you're looking for a shallow depth subwoofer.
