Trying to start up a new system, need some input

Hey guys. It's been a loooong time since I've been in the audio game, but I'm looking to start up again. Current requirements:

1) I have a JBL bp1200.1 amp. It does 1200RMS at 1 and 2ohms, but I'd prefer to go for the 2ohm load which (I think?) is easier on the electrical.

2) Roughly 4cu of space, possibly a bit more. That's counting a 33Hz port with 48" of port area. So that can be toyed with. Point is I can't throw in something that needs 6cu, nor do I require compactness.

3) No more than $250. If that means one 15 or two 12's that's fine, but the point is I'm not going over $250.

The second link was talking about an IB setup so either I misunderstood or that's not really in my range.

But would you recommend the Shiva-X over the RE/AQ subs? If so, I'll snag it, because saving money is always great. Only pain I see is finding an amp that'll deliver 600RMS at 4ohms that isn't crazy expensive.

you might have to upgrade that little battery that comes with the fit, & dont forget the big3, yes it help with the electrical system.

hey are you going to do any modes on that car???

dont forget the deadener.

So can i ask you question????

what are you going to do for your front stage?????

I hope you're not going to just focus on the boom???

Friend of mine used to have that car.

He had a single 15" RD Heavyweight on an RD 3250.1

If I'm not mistaken he was doing a 48 or so legal?

Good luck

And just so you know, you should have room for two 15's or one 18 if you're willing to lose that entire trunk //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

LOL, lots of question marks you got going there.

On the electronics, the installation guy I talked to said something about a sort of "backup battery" that could help out with that, since the Fit has a tiny battery and not enough room to buy a standard Yellow Top. In a Mazda mx3 I managed to have an L7 with a JBL1200.1 and all my components running off a 300-watt Rockford amp without too much issue, so for now I'd imagine one sub taking 600-ish watts should be fine.

The whole thing is going to be done in phases. First the bass, then the components, then the dash. On the plus side, there's tweets already mounted so that'll save time. On the minus side, the Fit's dash is REALLY weird and I haven't found a mounting kit for it yet. Back on the plus side, the guy there said my stock unit has enough power to it to take care of front components for now.

I'll worry about deadener down the road as well. When you're working on a budget, the however much for dynamat-type material is an expense that can be spared.

Jeezus Christ, he had a Heavyweight in a **** Fit? Yikes. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif

And haha, I mayyyybe could cram two 15's in there, but to be honest I don't need that kinda power. One ported should give me all I need for a daily driver. And those RD's are like $600 a pop, anyway, which is between double and triple what I'm aiming to spend. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

Also, I dunno what "doing a 48" means in this context.

1-When you buy deadener you should try to buy in bulk.

2-dont waste your money on a yellow top, look into maybe stingers,& make sure you look at the CCA's on the battery.

3-you Mazda M3 has a larger eletrical system then that fit has, so you cant cmpare oranges & apples.

4-yes 600@ohm's would be enough to flex that car, remember the box that built is just as important as the sub you buy.

5- When you decide you want some really nice speakers up front dont forget the amp.

6- you can came to this forum for help, so always listen to sells people most of them dont have a clue.

7-you can learn from guys on CA.COM on how fibre glass pods for your dash.

ask question & learn

Type-R verse a L7???

both subs sound a like, 1 hit wonders

& i think the type-r is 600rms-1200peak

The good thing about having a hatch you will beable to hear a well built tonality balanced subs that will have you enjoying every musical note to your ears, verse a 1 hit that sounds like a sloppy fart.

Again, $400 is too much. It's why I'm looking at the RE and the AQ, which I'm currently bouncing between. The single 15 sounds like a good idea now. Important thing seems to be getting a box built. I MIGHT be able to build one myself but that could be a bit difficult.
