Well...The bx1600 did 870 watts at a 1.1 ohm load, at 14.4v I believe....

 

Use that as your guide.

what were the specifics of this test? sounds a little low to me, seeing as the bx1500 loyd tested last year did much better.

I read the whole thread, 1605D, 870 watts at 1.1 ohm @ 11.5v... Hifonics amps power are rated at 14.4v, also it was in a vehicle with a low battery and a stock alternator.

i take it that the test was done in car on a burp. what were the voltage and current readings? was the 1.1ohm nominal or actual impedence?

it was .5 DCR and 1.1 after rise i believe.

ahh, that is kinda low. i would expect more than that even at 11.5v...

Lets say, with whats going on, how much power would a BX2005D put out at lets say 2 ohms?

For all we know, the boards could be completley changed.

There must be something wrong in that test

A bx-1600d can put out like 1200-1300rms @1ohm 12.5v

They are indeed overrated but not that much they have live 80% maybe a little less eficcient

Your bx-1000d will put out somenthing like 800rms@1ohm

The brutus amps may be overrated but they are great in the best in price/performance

and i have a friend runing a bx-1000d 0.5ohm daily with 4-8"dvc woofers

It gets pretty loud.

I talked my self out of the whole cheap power spend as little as possible... I am probably getting Phoenix Gold Xenon amps instead of HiFonics. I have always heard PG was good... They are still right?

Their new lines are not as good as the previuos ones you should consider kicker - mtx - orion instead of a xenon amp.

The xenon line is known for having lots of problems you should read about it in other forums.
