Trunk Car(Lincoln Town Car)

Wat up guys. I have a 1991 Lincoln Town car. Rightnow I am thinking if I should put the DC Level 5 18 on the back seats or in the trunk. The back seats don't fold down. But anways, has anyone done installs on Lincoln town cars, and if so, do they get plenty loud as a trunk set up?

I had a trunk car before. was an old pontiac. huge trunk.

and ill be darned if inside that trunk was super loud.

in side the car tho, not so much.

if your daring, id say re work the back seats so the sub faces in the cabbin and use the trunk space for a box, but have the sub facing the cabbin so you can actually hear it.

if I had a lincon town car like you / actually concidered getting one. - ( that or a caprice )

but I would take out the back of the seat and modify it so 2 people can still sit on either side, but have the sub totaly out facing in the cabbin, and have to custom build the box in the package tray and having the port facing up thru it firing in to the rear window glass.

sub foward in to the cabbin - port up at rear glass.

the idea in this, is you are keeping all the sound in the cabbin of the car.

no reason to have a loud trunk and a not soo loud cabbin of the car.

should still leave you with plenty of room in the trunk for batterys and amps - along with a big ol box for the sub - wether its a 15" or a 18" wich will want from 4.5 to 8.0 cubes depending on aplication.

i have a 99 town car and there is no easy way to have a flush box fit without modification or custom making the dimensions. I have 2 15s pushing appx 2000rms and the trunk surround rattles like crazy but doesn't seem to travel throughout the car or even to the front. taking brian's suggestions could really come in handy because the sound waves are trapped and never fully reaching the entire cabbin.

'98 Grand Marquis owner here. All you can really do is take out the rear speakers and take off the rubber matting behind the backseat. Other than that, there's nothing else you can really do.

Still gets pretty **** loud for being restricted from the cabin. There's still some Crown Vics / Town Cars with trunk setups dipping into the high 40's and low 50's.

Say what ever happened to that //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

I would get a good front stage and ditch the rear speakers, right now I have 2 10s off 1000w rms in my grand marquis and music I do around 133dB. My next plan is a single 15, probably RD Audio Alphamax.

This man speaks the truth. Some have had rewards by not running rear speakers and allowing the stock speaker opening to act as a port into the cabin. One of the best ways to improve output in these cars is to remove the rear seat all together, but that may not be an option in your case. Removing that black padding behind the seat does help as well.

These cars are a little tricky, but can get the job done. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I have owned both a towncar, and a crownvic. First take out all the insulation, next take out your rear speakers, also you may want to fold down your arm rest and cut a hole behind it. I used a blade, worked good. You can also port the rear deck for more airflow aswell. Their are plenty of things to do to make it louder.

I am just going to put the huge box in the back seats and wall the car with another 18 in the future Lol.

Rightnow Im just looking for a good front stage.

Thanks for the help.

build this. it will be loud
