yes, pressure is pressure. but pressure is not intensity. two systems could be capable of creating the same sound pressure level, but have different percieved intensities. it also depends on the waves inside the vehicle, how they move around the vehicle, how they interact with each other, and where inside the vehicle they peak. like its been said before, dedicated SPL vehicles can actually be designed to pressurize specific parts of the cab. my truck on the other hand, does not. it was not built for SPL, was just built to be a loud daily system. it doesent peak in any particular place, so it can seem louder than a vehicle which might peak in a different location.

Dosen't it also depend on the freq? Would'nt the pressure be different at 150db at 65hz, then 150db at 30hz? Just an uneducated guess.
yes, and no at the same time. some mics measure pressure by measuring velocity, others measure by measuring actual pressure. so the percieved difference could be due to frequency, but this is not the case. this could possibly account for a tenth of a Db, but my guess is that its not likely.

one thing that makes my install different from an SPL install also, is that mine is equally as loud across the entire sub-bass spectrum. anywhere from the infrasonics, to the xover point, i think i am within 2db across the entire 80hz range(or the part of the range that the meter can detect anyways). so my box doesent have a peak like an SPL install will, therefore, mine will more likely be percieved to be louder despite the freq.

Does your vehicle have no transfer function?
