truck cant handle system

Well a little update I got a 1000 cranking amp battery and it seems to have helped alot.

lights still dim but only a little when the subs hit a low note. Probably gonna go next week and get

Some single 0 welding cable and do big three as well as talk to my alternator guy about

Ether getting him to adjust my regulator on my alternator which I belive is internal

or rebuilding it to put put more amps at low rpms. Gonna put my old battery in a corner under

The hood and wire it in with my other battery.

I thought the truck was falling apart (like mine). Then I read 1000w and about fell out of the chair.
OP, GM trucks utilize the vast majority of their alternator current just running the truck.

In order to solve your dimming issue, you at least need a second battery as close to the amp as you can get it and the big 3 upgrade. You might still run into problems, which is where a high output alternator, or a second stock alternator specifically for the stereo would come into play.

Also, on the regulator thing: Somewhere in that neighborhood, GM started doing a fuel saving technique that actually kills the alternator and runs the truck strictly on the battery. Voltage will go from 14.5>12.5 when ever you aren't putting a load on the motor. If yours has this, the only way to make your alt charge the entire time is to get an external regulator to override GM's fuel saver attempt. I know older trucks didn't have this, I know newer trucks do. I am unaware which of those two categories yours fits into.
my exact thoughts lol. it ***** when your headliner wont stay on the roof....

Yep, I know nothing:graduate:
I'll see if my local ones have any Warhorses in stock...
Yeah they also have pioneer and the raged Sony xplode bullshit

Well you could do like my cheapskate dad and stick ****ing tacks and

duct tape to hold the headliner up.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

I've read that but for whatever reason mine charges all the time now. Voltage never drops below prob 14.1 or so and only then when I'm really pushing it. Granted I'm only running about 1200 watts total to my truck which to some of u guys is child's play.

That shyt used to annoy me when the alt would cut out and voltage would drop.

Tacks in my truck would be a bad thing, unless you like it raining tacks all the time.

RD is cool man, he helps members quite a bit. He just does so w/ an attitude. Don't take it too personally, he was talking of the absurdity of holding up your liner w/ duct tape. I know you were joking, I dunno if he caught it.

There shouldn't be any reason for your truck to be one of the "fuel" saver trucks then magically go to being on all the time, unless you've changed something in the engine or changed programming. Doesn't matter, if you're charging non-stop that's all that matters.

Yeah but my dad has no music in his truck so it don't bother him

But it was a joke even though my dad does do that.

Oh and im studying rd. That's kinda how I talk to smartass people

And im not getting worked up. I like talking shit.

And on the headliner I would just take it to a place that does interiors.

They'd probably do the best job.

Yeah I don't get it either. Like I said it used to shut off and voltage would go to mid 12s. Freaked me out at first as I thought alt was goin out. Then I read up and fi und out about the voltage regulator. Now after big three it never cuts out anymore.

I'll try to keep an eye on it this aternoon on way home to make sure I'm not imagining things
