I wouldn't say that it's 'no issue' but I think my personal preference would be for the 2 12's. I don't mind spending good money on good products. But I think I may just wait in a hole until someone sells a used pair.

There is a used pair for sale on here right now, $600 shipped. Some scratches and one has a hole in the surround. Doesnt affect play, but still. It's not only a cone area thing. With the 2 12's I would be using one 9.1 on each, as opposed to only one. 2 12's with about 2kw should sound better enough to me than 1 15 with 1kw to justify the money.
I took a quick look at the SI site, any experience with the 'new' Mag 12's or only the old ones?
