Triangle Port

so, i'm deciding on a triangle shaped port for a box. i've always stuck to square/round/rectangle shaped ports. I had a thought for a design and was wondering does anyone have a way to calculate the port length. Or can I just calculate it the same as a square port since a square is pretty much just 2 triangles?

a square is NOT two triangles dude unless both were right triangles and then your port would look wierd. use an equalateral triangle port that would look original and sweet especially with beveled edges. look up triangle volumes on google for area

i could be wrong but i think the triangle port idea will have some crazy turbulence issues and sound like poopy

isnt the volume of a triangle base times height

base x height x 1/2 = Y

Y x depth = Volume

I'd say calculate it as a square with the same area as the triangle. It's the area that matters, not the shape.

I saw someone with a triangle-shaped port at a USACI event last year and his mojo 15 put up some serious numbers in it. Almost 170db doing port wars, in the mid 140's in the kick.

I'd say calculate it as a square with the same area as the triangle. It's the area that matters, not the shape.

i think the triangle would be okay, the length would be the same as a rectangle port with the same area.

i don't care what you dumbass have to say but if you take 2 equal triangles and put them together you'll either make a rectangle or a square end of that discussion. i just want to know about port length for a triangle shaped port. thanks for those that actually contributed something to this.
