The amp should be able to play the left and right

stereo channels while playing a third (bridged)

mono channel.

I've heard it called Tri-Mode and Mixed Mono

i would have said that one lets say 200rms @ 4 ohm signal going to any given set of speakers could be intercepted by a trimode filter making it send a high @ 200wrms, a mid @ 200wrms and low @ 200wrms (signal separation)

It's one of those BS features a lot of cheap amps will mention when they don't have anything else worth talking about. Any bridgable amp can do it.

It's usually associated with a 2 channel amp. All it means is hooking up a pair of speakers like normal, and then using an 8 ohm (4 will cause a major strain on the amp) speaker and wiring it to the terminals you would normally use for bridged mode. Effectively it drops the amp to 2 ohms stereo, but the 3rd speaker would be running in full range - you would have to have an in-line low pass crossover if you wanted to run a sub using "tri-mode".

well - still, I think it's a meaningless feature. I've never seen ANYONE actually use an amp like that.

well, it can actually be quite useful in lower power applications...

you can run 2 speakers and a sub off one 2 channel amp... if you ont have the flow fora second, or just need a little bump for an 8" driver under the dash, it can be quite useful... just remember, just because it isnt common, doesnt mean it can't be useful
