my silence is deadly...
Liquid nails is just wood glue. And you can 100% use wood glue for sealing the joints if you like.
You just need to let it dry before you install the speakers...I've heard liquid nails is bad for speakers, something about the fumes eating surrounds over time. I just use wood glue and screws, works fine.
1. Spread the glue over the entire baffle and screw it together as well. When doing the double thick peices (front double baffle, and the back) do I just do lines of glue, or spread it out with a card or something?
Will 8oz of titebond II be enough, or should I get 16oz?
How long should you let the glue dry on one piece before moving it around and attatching another piece?
Thanks. Had to edit my post, they dont have the titebond II in stock. They have a 16oz bottle of III for $7.xx or a 10oz tube of the liquid nails for wood for $3.xx. Which is better or easier to work with? Especially if spreading over large areas.1. Spread the glue over the entire baffle and screw it together as well.2. The 8oz should be more than enough for 1 box. (should be able to do a few)
2. As long as you screw the pieces together you can go right on putting it all together.
Just try not to pry the pieces to hard and after its built, let it sit over night and all will be good.
I like the Titebond.Thanks. Had to edit my post, they dont have the titebond II in stock. They have a 16oz bottle of III for $7.xx or a 10oz tube of the liquid nails for wood for $3.xx. Which is better or easier to work with? Especially if spreading over large areas.
This,I actually prefer liquid nails because it's not so liquidy...It will stay in place when your moving your piece of wood around (i.e. it won't run)
I really think instead of dropping money on a brand new jigsaw to cut circular holes you should just buy a router with a circle jig. It may cost a bit more (maybe not if you find a nice used one) but the circles you cut will be 10x better.
