Tools For Box Building

When doing the double thick peices (front double baffle, and the back) do I just do lines of glue, or spread it out with a card or something?

Is 8oz enough, or should I go with 16oz?

The titebond II isnt available in more store. Should I get the liquid nails or titebond III?

How long should you let the glue dry on one piece before moving it around and attatching another piece?

i glue 2 pieces together, clamp em, predrill and then drill in the screws. remove the clamps and move on. it would be better to predrill before adding in the glue to make sure no glue gets dried up on your bit but i havent had any problems with it.

assuming the 16oz bottle is the tall circular one, that would be more than enough. i used like, ~1/3 of the bottle when making a 3.5 cube box.

1. Spread the glue over the entire baffle and screw it together as well.

2. The 8oz should be more than enough for 1 box. (should be able to do a few)

2. As long as you screw the pieces together you can go right on putting it all together.

Just try not to pry the pieces to hard and after its built, let it sit over night and all will be good.

Thanks. Had to edit my post, they dont have the titebond II in stock. They have a 16oz bottle of III for $7.xx or a 10oz tube of the liquid nails for wood for $3.xx. Which is better or easier to work with? Especially if spreading over large areas.

I like the Titebond.

The regular titebond and titebond II are just as good. The titebond should spread easier as it is more liquidy.

I actually prefer liquid nails because it's not so liquidy...It will stay in place when your moving your piece of wood around (i.e. it won't run)

I really think instead of dropping money on a brand new jigsaw to cut circular holes you should just buy a router with a circle jig. It may cost a bit more (maybe not if you find a nice used one) but the circles you cut will be 10x better.

Cheapest router they have is more then twice as much as the jig. It doesnt need to be 100% perfect, anyway right? Ill just take my time with it. Probably cut it out in junks.

This,

You can also do a lot more with a router. You can round over the edges, cut holes and many other things.

And yes, if you dont like runny glue, use the Liquid nails.
