Ok I am a bit confused. I have had a MTX Thunder 6000 for a few years, and its always sounded fine with about 300 watts or so on it. Well I am in the process of changing my system, and I recently sold a Soundstream Reference 500 which was running my MTX sub and did it well. I am changing to all US Amps, and I am changing my sub to a Stereo Integrity 12".
Anyway, the best amp I have right now to put on the sub is a US Amps 600x which I have wired 4 ohm bridged. Then I have a USA-400x running my CDT Eurosports. Now I realize this is just temporary, but why is it that no matter what I do the MTX sub sounds terrible now? If I put the gains as low as possible, I can not hear the sub at all over the 400x. If I up the gains even to 1/4, at high volumes the sub sound like it pops, or looses all integrity.. Is there a problem with the amp? Or is this what is sounds like when you have an amp too strong for a speaker.. The MTX is rated at 250 RMS 500 Max
Would the USA-600x power the SI D2 Mag 12 better? I have a USA-300x to use on the SI sub, but I am affraid to try to run that amp untill I update my wire.
Oh yeah... And the 400x means a ton more sound deadening material or something! lol In a Bass track on a test CD I have the passengers side door rattles like crazy!! For some reason the drivers side sounds fine.
