Too much for the SX's?

Right now i have a 02 explorer sport (2dr). I have 2 12" RE SE's from my old car. I was wondering if the RE 12.1 amps would overpower 2 15" SX's ported....OR should i just get 2 more SE's and have 4 sealed with 2 12.1's?

One 12.1 on each sx should be fine as long as you're careful with the gains. But they should be plenty loud on just one 12.1

they could handle them just fine as long as you set it up properly

either way it would be loud and good, personally I'd go with the two SX's, and they could probably take those amps no problem, just be cautious with the gains

Correct me if I'm wrong here...

SX = 1,000 watts RMS.

12.1 = 1,200 watts @ 1 ohm.

How would one 12.1 overpower 2 SX's? Does RE underrate their amps by 1,000 watts, or am I missing something...

According to...? RE's site says 1000, but more than likely you're right and they just haven't updated their site recently or something.

So again, how would a single 12.1 (or 2, for that matter) overpower an SX?

hmm.. thats weird, when i bought my SXs, it said 1200w

i'm going to be powering my 2 SX's with an orion 25000d......from what ive heard the SX's are underrated and are able to handle a fair amount over 1000 RMS....but i havent actually gotten mine set-up yet so i dont know for sure yet

SEs, i didnt like the SX and it didnt handle the power 2 well for daily on music. had 2 turn it down like 1min into the song becuz of stinky woofer. i'd go wit the SEs.

mine handles 1300+/- daily no problem... and can take more if gains are set right... a 2500d is fine for them.. would work great and not over power them
