Too ghetto for terminal cup

Personally I like drilling a hole and just running the wire through the hole and sealing her up with some silicone. Bolts work good but would require a ring terminal on either side of the panel they are mounted in. More connections = more resistance. Also steel or brass or whatever your bolt is made out of is not going to conduct electricity as good as copper. Not really a big deal although you are gonna see less resistance by just running a wire directly from the amps terminals to the subs terminals as opposed to using the bolts . Would the difference in resistance be audible? Most likely no but I'd rather know my amp had the most direct connection to my subs possible.

I'm with you on that ^^^

but I never use silicone

The only problem with silicone is it out gases for the first 24 hours, until it cures. Otherwise, silicone works great for the task.
Ya im debating to do wire through box and silicone it like my last box, but then if i get sub monday it prob still need a few hours to air out so i cant drop it in and go...

But i dont wanna use the bolt idea if its gonna be more resistance for the amp and cause any problems, or lack of power, etc.

You are worried about waiting 'a few hours'?

The bolt idea will be fine. Unless you fuck it up horribly, it will never make any noticeable change in your stereo's performance. Its easy to get overly anal about line loss.

I plan on finishing the box today, u said it takes 24 hours, i usually do it as long as possible.

if i finish box today then i get the sub tomorrow, i would want to throw it in there before i go to work. but if its not ready i cant do it till after work.

so ya if i have a nice 15 just sitting there waiting to be thrown in a box i wouldnt want to wait a few hours, sooner the better. and i wasnt being anal about it, just someone else said that using the bolt idea adds more resistance to it

A) I would run the speaker wire str8 through a hole in the box

B) If you really want to use bolts and you're really scared to add resistance to your lines then just find copper or silver bolts and dont use spades...

C) If the only reason for not running wire through ur box is cuz ur too impatient than you should give up car audio all together. Patience is a virtue and will reflect in you audio applications. Btw, there are plenty alternatives to silicon

its not being too impatient, but i would rather not wait if i have a way around it. Nothing wrong with that, and doesnt mean i need to quit car audio. its not a hobby i just add a few things and im done. im not obsessed with car audio or how my truck sounds.

ya im sure there are alternatives to silicone but why would i go spend $ on it when i have tubes sitting at my house. maybe i should go quit car audio.

This. Direct connection = win.
