well, i got my second battery the other day only to be very dissapointed... have these two Interstate Mega-Tron Plus MTP-65 Automotive Battery 850 CCA and SHURiKEN SK-BT45 (SKBT45) 1250 Watt 12V Car Battery Power Cell everything wired with 1/0 including the BIG 3. running about 1800 watts with 2 vvx 12's and a 4 channel (75x4). after putting the second battery in, the voltage still drops! the second battery slowed the drop down a little bit, but was expecting it to be a lot more noticeable increase. so the last thing is my 90 amp alt. i can get a 120 amp for just over $100... will that help out a decent amount? any opinions would help

might be easier and cheaper to add another alt and run 2 of them.dodge alts are not cheap

How bad are your drops? My stinger sgp12 volt meter came in today I was happy to see my memphis 16MC2000D @4ohms and Fosgate T600.2 @4ohms per ch at full tilt are only dropping my voltage down to the low 13's high 12's on hard low notes.

well thats the alt kicking out due to hitting it's peak output, I will see that on the note around 3min in to put on and it will hold until the note passes the only way around it is a bigger alt, but if it does like mine it should fluctuate but not maintain 12.4 but for a moment.

i kinda noticed that, there is a fine line when adjusting the sub level on the HU where the voltage will stay up, and one click up on the level it will fall on its face...

That's the alt kicking out, a H/O alt will do the same thing when push passed it's max output, so the upgrade your looking at to gain 30 amps will act the same way just one or two clicks higher till it cuts.

I think the extra 30a in that new alt could make a hell of a difference. Especially since your current one is 20 years old!

Or just run both alts like a boss. Just use the 120a alt for your stereo.

If you're a welder, sure. Otherwise you'll have to see if someone can build one for you. OR, just try running it with the new 120a alt.
