to fuse or not to fuse?

you should fuse any wire connected to the positive side of the battery, as close as possible. it protects the battery from shorting out and exploding. you don't want battery acid in your engine compartment, nor the inconvenience it causes.

since the batt (+) to alt (+) wire is prone to damage, fuse it. you don't need to fuse the alt side, but you can.

physically protect the wire with high temp tech flex, route it safely and secure it every 6" or so,

you DONT NEED TO. Now on the flipside is it a good idea? sure, its a pretty **** easy/cheap way to protect your battery so if you want to do it then do it. If your asking if you have to the answer is no

if you trust your work fully there is no reason to fuse... but then again you have this big wire around alot of moving parts and vibration so its not a bad idea to fuse it in the end it does not need to be fused but you can never be too safe your putting all this money into your vehicle so why not a little added protection for your investment?
