To cap or not to cap.....that is the question.

Well suppose specs would help. I got a 1990 Audi 100 (i know, its hot) and i just threw a couple of 10" type Rs in there with a 1200w Poweracustik amp (again....uh....hottness......AHEM) Well to the point.... i have a battery gauge and when the bass hits the volts drop, not that its much of a suprise. It sounds great (to me) but is this something that could damage my car? I want to do the big 3 but my battery is under my backseat, so its more difficult so i havent gotten around to it yet. Think a cap is in order? Some seem to think that they dont do anything but provide eye candy, as i spend so little time with my head in the trunk i could care less about that. Whats the deal?

**** revrider youre a posting fool. Copy that, heres another one for you. I couldnt get ahold of anyspeaker wire today, and of course i wanted it to work today, so I grabed some 20 gauge and doubled it up, as in two wires to each place. Its not copper, its steel me thinks. Seems to work and they dont heat up, but am i losing anything besides looking like a ghetto *** fool? ALSO the diaghrams for the subs i have (wire at 4 omhs) show the connections from one sub to the other right on the sub itself. I just wired to both of the straight from the amp. Maybe i picture will help. Does this change anything?

I've noticed an improvement in both loudness and SQ after installing a second battery, and two caps. Not so much of a change on my component speakers, but a definite improvement on my subs.

My hifonics amp uses an unregulated power supply, as mentioned in that link, so output decreases rapidly if i have voltage drops, so enough can never be said about the importance of having ENOUGH power FAST ENOUGH with an unregulated power supply, but i upgraded too many components of my electrical system at once to pinpoint it to the caps. Could've been the big 3, new alt., second battery, or new power cables, as well... But the caps aren't hurting anything, that's for sure.

Bump to this question. Have the same question but to me seems like it would be the same thing. Are they the same?
