Make sure u have at least 21% free space on every hard drive. Defrag all the time.

Get Diskeeper. it automatically defrags all the time, or you can set it to start and stop whenever you want.

Start > Right-click on My Computer > Properties > Advanced > Click on Settings under Performance > Click on Adjust for Best Performance > Scroll down the list and check the last 3 boxes (common tasks, drop shadows, visual styles) > Click OK

If you want to get rid of the language bar at the bottom and you don't use any Asian languages on your computer, you can remove a startup program called ctfmon.exe using the following steps.

Start > Control Panel > Regional and Language Options > Languages > Details > Advanced > Check "Turn off advanced text services" > Click OK
