Thoughts on new system?

Planning a new install, about to pull the trigger but curious if my setup sounds like it will work well. I am focusing mainly on a bang for buck SQ build. Keep in mind I live in S. Korea so I either need to have things shipped here and pay import tax or buy locally at an insane markup. This current system is pretty much at the limit of my budget (actually a bit over). Will be installed in a 2008 Kia Spectra SX.

Current plan:

Sony XAV-701BT HU

JBL GTO 5EZ amp (50x4 + 350x1 RMS@4ohm)

JBL MS-62C Comps in front (off 150w bridged... too much?)

JBL GT6-6 rear fill off HU

Infinity Kappa 120.9 in single 1.2' sealed box in the trunk

Anything you would change? Or does this look good? Would 50w be better for the MS-62Cs?

lookup teamlightning lab in facebook they are from the philippines but their subs looks like a rebadge of the obsidians and their amps is pretty sick, shipping might not cost you too much coming from the philippines, one of the dealer i know his name is jeff tan in facebook good luck

The Sony wasn't my first choice, but it has mirrorlink and is a local regional model so I won't have trouble with it defaulting to regionally unsupported functions like Google maps, Pandora, Sirius, etc. The only other regional mirrorlink model is the JB.Labs S100 which looks like junk. Also it cost $489 shipped for the Sony, about half as much for me here as those brands would have after shipping and import duties. In order to meet my budget I could have gotten an Alpine and much cheaper speakers or this, so I ended up ordering the setup I originally posted. Hopefully it has acceptable sound quality, I have only owned one other Sony HU and it was decent but not great. Now to wait impatiently for the postman.

You need deadener for doors. Drop the Sony unit, grab a Pioneer 80prs so you can go active, use your Iphone for navigation you dont need a screen. Plus reading one of the reviews they said you couldnt listen to music while navigation is on? Dont know if that's true or not. Food for thought thats what Id do.

In the original firmware there were a lot more restrictions. Also I have the Korean Drivelink which is a bit more generous. If I can't play music while the navigation is running (apparently no longer the case but not 100% sure) I can root my phone and use a custom app from XDA developers.

Is the only reason people are knocking the Sony the inability to go active? I already bought it so a bit late unfortunately, but since it hasn't shipped yet I have a couple days to try and cancel the ebay order. If the active crossover capability is the only major difference I could still go active down the road if I get another amp. They both have a 24bit DAC, and the specs seem pretty similar. As long as I can still get the same quality sound, albeit stuck with passive for now, I don't regret getting the Sony. I really was in the market for a consolidated double din multimedia AV unit, though that Pioneer does look pretty awesome.

I have preferred Pioneer since the 90's and about 80% of the multiple head units I have bought over the years have been theirs. Too bad they have little to no presence in this country. Car audio really isn't very big at all here. I went in to the biggest shop in this city the other day and asked them how much it would be to install an amp (it is getting cold out and I have no indoor work space) and they said they couldn't do it. I asked them what kind of car audio shop can't install an amp, and their response was "factory systems are good enough these days so there is no reason" LOL //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/sick.gif.b1847c8dabbfeeddbcf1a78052249e10.gif Guess I will buy some long underwear with the money I save doing the install myself.
