wait im lost here, so becuase the clarion came with better factory settings on the bands then the alpine, that makes it a better HU? You know.. they make it customizeable for a reason
No Denial ...... My post was about observations I made between different equipment in my system.
NOTHING in audio is so clear cut black and white as statements such as " Zapco Ref is better than D7 " .... you see , it is
ALL OPINION unless specifics such as build quality , parts quality , or something tangible and proveable are named as the reason for making such definitive statements.
I would NEVER say that a simple feature is the only thing that makes one product better than the other. But you have NEVER read a comparison type review where the author didn't point out differences , have you ?
To me this was a valid point , since the Alpine has fixed EQ points that are 1/2 octave , and the Clarion has 1/3 octave EQ point selection...... With the Alpine , you can adjust bands
only so close together , where with the Clarion you can overlap bands , and choose ANY 1/3 octave point with any chosen band.....
For me , this allowed me to taylor the adjustments much better than I could with my Alpine. I still LOVE the 7998 , and always will !!
