Thoughts of TC 5200's

Btls yes are loud but these woofers have the cooling and a 4" voice coil. I went from btls to 5200s and I will never go back

dds woofers are basically just for spl.

Ever listen to them?

They don't sound good at all for daily driving
i will never understand why such a great product had to be taken away. bums me the **** out

Yeah I love my subs but they're tuned too low I have them at 28 which sucks I need them a little higher like 33. They're not loud to me at all yet but it can do can tricks
I'd bring it up to like 32-35hz range depending on your preference. I'm sure it's already loud like it's setup now, but once you get sum real power in there and a new box that thing will be a monster daily setup.

I've always wanted to run a 5200, one of my buddies has had a 15" 5200 for a few years now. We've gone through prolli like 5+ rebuilds and multiple different amps over the last 2+ years. He has an RF 4000bd @ 1ohm running his daily and that thing just eats up the power all day long. He's been running 3kw+ daily since he got it and never blown or even gotten stinky to my knowledge.

I'm looking to do some real damage with these. Thing is I can't find anyone that'll help with the rebuild. And I kinda like the lows but I can't have these only playing lows. I need something a little more in the mix. But off such low power these do move some air

2 tc-5200 15's running off a single autotek mm4000 bassracing 149.9's using thug motivation(41hz)

honestly, they were my favorite woofers to date.. i've used btl's, tsns, hc3's, and new btls since them..

They don't need big power to get loud... a pair of sundown 3000's @ .35 was all the power they could take.

Funny that no one in this thread mentions the glue problems and the flimsey spiders (and lack of having more of them). Is it just that 2008'ers and up just don't read old threads concerning 5200/5400's or what? They're low power SQ subs at best.

maybe because the ones we had didn't have glue problems, put up good numbers, and took power well...

Apparently you need to read up on these more

I'm sorry I hurt your feelings //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crying.gif.ec0ebefe590df0251476573bc49e46d8.gif You know damn well how many of those subs were in my posession and all of them failed. Hell even some of the mod's on this fourm were there to see one of the 18" neo versions take a piss, not to mention the hundreds of people whom saw one fold in on itself at MECA Finals 2006

Apparently you need to read up on these more
Maybe you should look at my youtube page and rethink that thoughtless comment?

C'mon, Dan. Don't get all worked up over the past. No one is asking you to buy any TC products. You saved me from stating the obvious, which is the fact that nearly every driver Thilo designed is, in fact, a SQ driver. Some of them just happen to have the ability to get very loud. Does this mean they should be used for SPL purposes and tested for their ability to handle burp abuse? I personally don't think so, but others will try and have tried, some with high degrees of success and others with eminent failure. It's a fact that every single driver can be broken with the right amount of abuse, whether it's the coil burning up, spiders letting go, or any number of other failures waiting to happen. TC drivers are the kind of drivers that can tear themselves apart, due in part to the very strong motors employed, and it's up to the user to learn the limits of them and respect those limits. Thilo used a very rubbery epoxy that remained very flexible to alleviate some of the stress encountered at Xmech, the downside is that it doesn't have the same holding power that CA does. I would rather have that flexibility since I know when to stop applying power to my drivers and don't really do the SPL thing. SPL guys should probably look elsewhere unless they are very careful and can accept the limitations of these designs. Those that can accept them are rewarded with some of the finest low frequency reproduction possible. I know because I own close to thirty TC drivers and not a single one has failed me. I'm not saying the company didn't have QC problems, but what company hasn't?

You must not have much experience with DD's if you think they are solely for SPL. I'd take 9500's over any of the TC's just because I've seen what happen's to the TC's when you try to put alot of power to them.
