Thoughts about C2 audio recon amps?

I am just amazed at how inexpensive amps are these days... really. We used to sell vlx 400's for around $2,600 - $3,000 ....Now you can get 5k for about half of that ...Just AWESOME !!!
that heat sink alone drives the costs up like crazy.

you should see all the brazilian amps nowadays, ridiculous dollar per watt ratio at a tiny footprint.

i'm tempted to get one but it feels like imma have sex with prostitutes in a third world country with no condom on.

EDIT: I can get a taramps 8k for 779 shipped or a taramps 6500 for 729 shipped directly with taramps hmm.

To answer your question about the C2 Recon amps. I have an amp with the exact board as the Recon 2.4. This amp is amazing for output and doesn't drain my electrical like some smaller amps have. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another of these amps. I'm running two 12" Tantric HDD D2's on it at half ohm and doesn't get hot at all and using a stinger volt meter I've never dropped below 11.9v wired at the amp terminals and the bass didn't waver at all. I'll post up pictures of the amp later. BTW, that MTX te4001d does more than the rated 3750w @ 1ohm. MTX had underrated their amps to look good but named them at power or just over highest rated RMS output when they went to China. For example the TA7801 was named for the 800w @ 2 ohms instead of the 1200w rating @ 1ohm even though the amp was known to do easily over 1600w and up to 1800w RMS @ 1 ohm. The TA series amps were made in the USA TE series is China. I wouldn't hesitate to use either series but MTX went to crap after that. Additionally the TE4001d is very power hungry. I think that is due to lots of capacitors and only a couple torroids.

not trying to be a d1ck but, just staying above 11.9v is not considered good voltage or not saying its not draining your electrical. it sounds like it is if your dropping that far honestly. good average electrical IMO is 13v+. Dropping in 12s can be dangerous for amps, but thats just me.

I run a Soundstram Ta1.3k at .5 daily and yes i drop to around 12.5-6.v and i seen some 11s today but i always draw back when it goes there.

The topic of this thread is not about my electrical or your setup.

I understand, but your referencing a amp with the "exact board"(maybe same layout, but probably different parts), saying that its pretty much a good efficient amp yet you drop to 11.9v? The amp you have(same layout as Recon) sounds like a bit of power hog to me to stay on subject of the Recon then.

In comparison to the MTX TE4001D (which he was considering buying from me and is also mentioned in this thread by the OP) yes the Recon 2.4 is very efficient.

Copied from C2 webpage description of this amp; "These amps are extremely versatile and operate from 10-16 volts."

I don't see where a very occasional dip to 11.9 is a problem for this amp.

And not one person answered his actual question in that time. Jeff is a good guy I've talked to him a few times, he'll appreciate it.

Yessir, just as good as Sundown, DD, AQ/SQ and Crescendo to name a few "cookie cutter" utilizers.
Exactly. It's not necessarily a bad thing, but it's funny to see people argue over amps that are all nearly identical. The Hifonics vs AQ debate is my favorite of the bunch.

thanks man I've already gotten a DC audio 3.5k since then and couldn't be happier. I figured I'd stick with something that has good resale value on the forums.

Korean board efficiency and design is awesome, noticeably louder, sounds better and volts drop even less than two hifonics brx 2400.1s.

I haven't seen that debate. Is maxxsonics building amps for AQ (DD) now?
