those of you looking to go to college...

I forgot everything i learned in the past 3 1/2 years of college. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif
Sporadic things will pop up every now and then, but i don't have a very good memory.

What was i talking about again?

But seriously, had i not gotten a bunch of scholarships (turned my $25+k a year school into a $9k a year one) i probably would have dropped out just to save the money. Sure, college experience may help me some time down the road, but i have ZERO idea of what i want to do when i'm done with school.

Oh well. The whole college experience was very enjoyable though.
what did you major in....? Did you do any internships or co-ops?

//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif I have friends that are senior Petroleum Engineering majors....interning for exxon this summer making ~30 dollars an hour. Engineering Majors (especially Petroleum) In my area are graduating LSU easily making 50K+ their first year out of college.

I really want to start my own hedge fund in a way. I already start to play around with selling calls and puts, nothing uncovered though. Also gonna spend some on betting on horse races, lottery tickets, etc. A pure speculation fund.

I think college is one of those all or nothing type of deals. Either you bust your ***, work hard, and actually make it... or you slack off and BS the entire way through and just end up wasting time. I'm currently slacking off in a major that has a lot of competition (Computer Science), so I really need to get my shit together or else I'll end up pwned by the non-college grads like squeak pointed out.

Honestly, I'll be impressed if you are making more than $45k with that degree within 5 years, unless you are in a high cost of living area. In my region, that's not an extremely high paying career field starting off, unless you stumble into a few select corporations. And you have to be in the top percentage of your class to get into those companies. But most of the available jobs are in the $35-$40k area for n00bs.

Oh, and add Schwan salesmen and Pepsi/Coke salesmen (the guys who drive the trucks around) to the list of those who'll likely make more than your original stated figure their first year with no college degree //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif I've seen several Pepsi salesmen making in excess of $80k, and Schwan men with a good route making over $70k easy.
I'd like to see these guys pay stubs //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

The thing is, UC has co-op jobs ALL over the Country. When you sign up, you sign away that you can be located to co-op all over the US. Someone with a B.S. or M.S. in EE is one of the highest paying jobs right out of college. Must **** to be an educated guy around you man...

I'd rather have the knowledge, then work at a brainless job... or be a dedicated salesman my entire life.

expirence in what you want to do is key.

all a degree is... is a piece of paper, but i am going to school to become a master automobile tech. 100k+/yr working on caddys and gmc's. all in how fast you do the work, and how good. i've seen it with my own eyes.

plus GM pays for the schooling.

the last thing on my list i wana do is a student loan. that shiz can **** on my nuts.

I did //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif Perks of my last job //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif Got to see paystubs, W2's and tax returns from hundreds of different career fields, from stockboy at the local supermarket to CEO/President/Owner-operators of various businesses. Got to see their credit reports too.....you'd be amazed at how many people you think are living the "good life" are really failing financially. 3rd mortgage on their house, upside-down on their vehicle loans, credit card debt out the wazzo, late payments on everything, etc.

I'd rather have the knowledge, then work at a brainless job... or be a dedicated salesman my entire life.
And THAT, is the main thing college does for you. It's not the income...plenty of uneducated-fields make good money. It's the ability to pick and choose what job you want to work, and what field you want to work in, rather than being limited to mainly back-breaking labor.

I dont think this is really good advice imo, it depends if u slack off, if u follow directions and do what your told, college is ezy

Your right, not good advice. Coming from someone who spells like he just got out 1st grade should not talk about how college is easy bro! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif

Actually this may be the first post I have ever seen you not misspell a word, besides ezy. I think you did that to be e-cool. GTFO!

Good luck. Automobile technition is one of the worst fields to get itn. The work sucks, the customers **** worse and in no way will you ever make that even if you were a master mechanic. My dad is a master mechanic and has worked on cars his whole life. Matter of fact he used to work for the GMC/Pontaic/Chevy /caddy dealership as the master mechanic there years ago and he only brought home about 35k a year, which isnt too too bad for this area. Now he is a manager at Midas and makes about 40000 a year but works 60 **** hours a week killing himeself. Have fun!
