I was helping a friend hook up his amp and subs well after getting everything hooked up on the amp and i was bout to set the gains well when i was screwing in the probes of the dmm to the ouputs of the amp he turns on the truck and the screwdriver was touching the amp and it apparently grounded out the amp or something because i was screweing in the pos terminal and it grounded against the amp and it blew the headunit wouldnt play no sound through the door speakers but the subs worked fine, it didnt blow no fuses on amp or by the battery, it seemed weird then when he turned the truck off and back on the hu started smoking and was done

But anyway its a very old cheap sony Hu and he has the rca's hooked up with that and its a crunch pzi 1500 and he has 2 12's xplods 4ohms so i wired it down to a 2 ohm load for the amp and it cant even reach the proper volts that it should be set to

so should he use a line out converter

Other than the fact you can't wire 2 4 ohm dvc subs to a 2ohm load, I'd have to say you and your friend are retards and shouldn't be fooling with car audio.....or electricity in general.
