Boston subs ftw I just bought mine from blue and they are prob the best subs I have ever heard!
Cool man. Well once I get the enclosure volume down, I think I'll be set. I bought it brand new so I sounds like it needs to loosen up a bit if you know what I mean.

A few updates //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/woot.gif.aaa6090e619a97b6090d16dd863c5a69.gif

Acting on a great tip from blue, I added .25 ft^3 worth of 1x6's to get the volume of my box down to ~1.0 cubes. It really tightened it up...twas a bit boomy with more air space. These Boston Pro subs are no joke...probably one of the best sounding subs I've ever heard. The output is great and pretty accurate too...I'm getting a slight overhang, so I will have to tinker some more.

And now to the front stage. I finally got the Usher dome midranges mounted in the kickpanel area. I had to move the fuse box on the driver's side and relocate a control box on the passenger's side. Once they were out....wow....there's a lot of room back there!! I hope to glass them in this summer sometime, but for now they are mounted with some back strap and bolted where the plasic kicks snap in.

Driver's side:

Passenger's slide with Lotus RW165 in the door:

Passenger's side...Dyn MD100's in factory sail location:

I decided to set it up the following way using a combo between the 8053 and the Kicker x-overs:

Hi: Dyn tweetes - HP 4kHz, 12db/oct

Mid: Lotus midsbass - HP 63Hz, 24dB/oct...LP 400 Hz, 24db/Oct

Non-Fader: 8053 x-over set to Pass....signal split....Right---> Boston sub: LP 75hz, 18db/oct, Left---> Usher midranges: HP 500 Hz, 12db/oct....LP 3.5kHz, 24db/oct.

In this configuration I retain T/A on the tweets and the Lotus mids with the 8053 but loose T/A on the Ushers. I still get a pretty decent center image, but it needs some work.

As far as the sound goes...initial impressions are great. There is like 30% more music now. The midranges really fill out the music, giving it more body and depth. I'd say my stage moved out about 2-3 feet on the hood. I have A LOT of tuning to do yet, but so far so good with just kind of slapping it together.

I have not linked the amps up using the SXRC yet because I was short a network cable. Once that baby is good to go, tuning will be a snap!!

nice john. those actually look real nice down there. i'm hoping someday i'll join in 3 way action //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/naughty.gif.94359f346c0f1259df8038d60b41863e.gif.

lol. yea sorry i meant 3 way front stage.

yea i'd like to see how you are going to decide where to put the ushers at. i know those ushers have good off axis response, how's the on axis? anyone been successful having those on axis?

if i go w/ a 4 way front stage, going all out man! yep seas lotus it is //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif. hahha.

I thought I read where someone tried the DLS dome on axis and they sounded terrible. Maybe they were up high or something.

The only adjustment I really need to make to the Ushers would be to lower them down a few inches as they are basically hiding under there. There is no direct line of sound from them and my ear on either sides because the dash is in the way. I wanted to try to get them as far forward as I could....and right now they are touching the firewall. I will have to do further testing obviously. I just mounted them the most common sense way to begin with using the existing mounting points for the factory kick.

A full Lotus seup (sub included) would be pretty sweet I would think. I'm pretty sure Eng is rocking it?? Didn't you get to demo his car when you got your's tuned??

i went to leon's house in oakland. i believe eng lives in so cal. i got to hear leon's car only. funny thing is, leon's trunk is a freakn mess. wires all over the place. amps sitting on the trunk board. his sub is outta place. he has other random shiet back there. it's just a jungle back there. BUT the sound of his car definately makes up for it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif.

as for the all lotus setup, i think the diyma might have to say something about that //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif. but if i do, it won't be for a while. i seriously want to settle on a system for a few months before changing (i think you heard this statement before //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif).

I settled for some young chica once for a few months but it got boring....had move on....I call it recycling because you throw the fish back in the pond and fish for something better. It's a sport Pete, not a hobby. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Leon's trunk is as messy as Albert's s2000. His DLS amps were sitting on the floor with junk packed into the trunk. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif

It's okay though because my trunk is a mess too //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Messy HQ SQ systems for the WIN....//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I finally got the SXRC all wired up this week and let me tell ya....having all adjustments in the palm of you hand is priceless //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/woot.gif.aaa6090e619a97b6090d16dd863c5a69.gif

I also moved the Ushers down toward the floor for a few days but did not like them there so I moved them up between where I had them initially. There is now a direct path from the axis of the mid to my ear, where before it was completely obscured by the bottom of the dash. Nice thing is that they image pretty close to the center at about mid dash height without T/A.

I also adjusted the x-overs so that they are playing from 600hz to 7000khz. With the tweets crossed at 8k it brings the sound up to shoulder level. Anyone know how to get it up to eye level with just x-over and slope adjustments??

I ordered a set of Seas neo metal domes from Madisound to try out. If I don't like them, they go back and I'm out $4 shipping. I miss the detail of a metal dome. Hopfully they won't rip my head off.
