i'm just curious about the deadening. i know you want the least amount of holes as possible but my ram has 'hooks' on the panel where it mounts on to the metal skin of the door. By the looks of your picture it looks like you have no holes what so ever for your door panel to mount back on. Is it just me or does your panel not use holes in the metal skin of the door?

Why thank you....care to take a guess?? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
I bet you I could give you a pretty good estimate. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Since 1/2 that system was mine, and I know what those dome mids cost. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

The holes have all been covered as described in my earlier posts. Does that answer your question??

Ya know Fox .... I've been playing with my new Lotus mid-bass drivers for about two weeks , and WOW are they awesome at resolving details , but at a complete lack of warmth. While they are truly great drivers , I feel the Rainbow Profis are just as good , and maybe even better. How low does that Usher midrange play ?
seas drivers aren't warm drivers. they very revealing mids with awesome detail. it doesn't fall into the category of "warmth." its all personal preference though, although i've never heard the profi's before.

They're not cold. I ran Quarts and those were cold and edgy IMO. I guess I'd have to a/b with some Iridiums, which are often described as "warm" to know the difference.

Maybe Chad can comment....I think he just switched from the Lotus to Iridiums??

I actually went from the Lotus to MBQ QSC (QTD25 tweet from the QSD set and the QSC mid, which is virtually identical to the QSD mid). The MBQ mids were definitely warmer sounding to my ears, but didn't have the midbass impact of the Refs.

From those I went DIY with Morel H8.1" midbass, Usher 9845 dome mids, and kept the QTD25 tweets. The Ushers are closer to the sound of the Refs, but not quite as good of midrange. Having the dedicated midrange/midbass did wonders for my overall system.

Would you say going from the 700.4 to the 900.4 would be a justifiable change to get more power? It's 87w to 112w. I was thinking the Ushers are 8ohms and although the Dyn tweets are efficient on paper, they do seem to like the power...even if they are 4 ohms. I had my A3 on them and they were sweet!

Would be a waste of money for those drivers, period. Tweeters do NOT NOT NOT NOT NOT need that much power, no matter what some might think.

The Ushers are hella efficient. I'm using 100 x 2 (50 x 2 at 8 ohm), but I have the gain basically all the way down and had to attenuate the output from the H701 a decent amount.

Good points...but I was also thinking of future upgrades //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/naughty.gif.94359f346c0f1259df8038d60b41863e.gif

Got amp porn? Snapped a pic of the SX650.1's guts while I had the cover off. The fan is actually attached to the cover...not sure if it ***** or blows //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/hilarious.gif.02a037aad04aa96f19982b298a3d70a8.gif

I know nothing about internals, so I will let you decide if it's worthy...I'll just enjoy my deep, throbbing bass from my new sub!! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/woot.gif.aaa6090e619a97b6090d16dd863c5a69.gif

Got the amps in and mounted along with the SXRC. I'm in the process of fabricating the factory kicks and making baffles for the Usher domes. PITA but hopefully it will be worth it.

So how do they sound you may ask...well pretty good, but not unbelievable.

Both the tweeters and the mids have been matched almost exactly power vs power from my previous setup using the A5 and A3 (85w on tweets before, now 87.5w; 150w before, 150w now). The overall authority of the power feels nearly the same....basically too close to comment.

As far as the sound quality is concerned, I do feel that Kickers lack that sweet, effortless high frequency reproduction that the Ultimates had. I have pretty rudimentary critical listening skills, but I do listen to the same passages from the same tracks over and over and have identified several subtile cues. The Kickers definately get the job done, but I wouldn't give them an award for it.

In the upper frequencies with the amp driven hard, the music always stayed true with the DLS, but now with the Kicker's it seems to be more edgy and nervous....eventhough I don't think I'm hearing distortion (who know I probably am //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif). This indicates to me that some tuning is necessary.

The Kickers do a very nice job of reproducing the detail and transparency of the music, but seem to be less natural and pure than the DLS's did. Again I am being very picky here.

In the end I feel that I made a good decision to sacrifice the European flair for some badass processing that allows me to run a dedicated midbass and add a midrange driver. Having adjustable phase on every channel, 48dB/oct slopes, independant gains, and two amps that bandpass all at the touch of my fingers ain't too shabby //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/yumyum.gif.0556df42231b304b9c995aefd13928a8.gif

Well it's been a few weeks so I figured I'd change something //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

I picked up a SX900.2 (225x2 @4, 14.4v) for the Lotus mids. Initial results are promising. They are clearer and louder. Wasted power on efficient drivers you say?? Pffffft...nonsense poopy pants!!!

I also put in a Boston Pro series sub. This thing is very solid so far. Probably one of the more musical and accurate subs I've used so far. Plent of output with 650 watts on it too. I will try to get the internal volume to 1.0 cubes as per my ace in the hole blue's recommendation and see how it fairs. It's a little boomy at 1.25 cubes now.

Next step is to locate some spare factory kicks and install the Ushers. After that, let the madness begin //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif
